French Wikipedia tells me that in French they are called "passerelles mobiles" and that, in addition to YMX where I remember them from, they were/are also used at YUL and CDG in addition to IAD, as well as EDW (by NASA) and MEX.

Killing time in an airport, I was thinking how much more "urban" most North American airports are compared to European peers. Even those built far out like Dulles have been overtaken by sprawl now.

fun fact: my first ever international flight (when I was 13) was IAD to CDG on United. That wasn’t a 777 back then, though.

I see United Airlines using the Z4 on core US domestic routes as well as on transatlantic routes it serves such as EWR-LHR, EWR-CDG, ORD-FRA and IAD-FCO.
