Considering she was given a Christian homeschool education, I'm getting a lot of IBLP/Bill Gothard vibes here. Especially given how she talks about him as her Protector and Guardian, language frequently found in IBLP teachings, specifically the "Umbrella of Authority" for Christians.

Holy shit, I never realized until listening to a survivor story the 'spanking spatula/spoon' was a thing that largely came out of the IBLP, crazy how the tentacles of hard-line Evangelical child abuse end up in conservative American culture as a whole.

i had never really been around people of either new religious movements or hardcore evangelicals/IBLP type stuff. this whole concept of power and gender in the fundamentalists blew my goddamn mind and i keep seeing it EVERYWHERE.

But again, here's where a basic understanding of the IBLP "family values" propaganda comes in handy. The initial group was put together in 1961, amid the civil rights movement & desegregation efforts, & advocated homeschooling to "protect" (white) children from the evils of public education.
