IEA'S BIROL: EUROPE IS GOING TO ENTER A VERY DIFFICULT WINTER.
September 29, 2026 at 11:54 AM
The IEA’s 2025 outlook makes it clear: clean energy is eating fossil fuels’ lunch. ⚡ Renewables, grids, storage & electrification now draw double the cash of oil, gas & coal—despite IEA’s erratic underestimates for over a decade. The age of electricity isn’t coming, it’s here. 🌍 #EnergyTransition

I see BBC Newsnight had an IEA staffer on again last night - alongside Kim Darroch and Jon Sopel.

It’s ridiculous that the BBC continues to platform the IEA’s extreme, economically ruinous agenda. It’s like the Truss fiasco never happened.

Citing the IEA's Andrew Lilico lmao

The Times casually reporting a ‘slowdown in demand for electric vehicles’. Meanwhile, the IEA’s latest chart on global EV demand looks like this.

Stancil really seems to have no interest in interrogating any piece of information on this issue

The IEA's latest report shows that *existing* sites are mostly serving traditional purposes - but *growth* relates mostly to generative AI related functions

Lot of media outlets stuffing up the distinction between scenarios and "forecasts"/"projections"/"predictions" - but honestly, pretty much every single one of the IEA vs solar charts I've seen presented the IEA's scenarios in exactly this (wrong) way

It’s also interesting he mentions the global demand for oil, which the IEA (who he’s citing!) forecasted will begin to diminish years before this pipeline is even built.

The IEA’s newest figures suggesting growing oil demand were done under new methodology bc TRUMP THREATENED TO PULL THEIR FUNDING
October 1, 2026 at 4:22 PM
This is so wild. He’s making claims of billions in revenue from this pipeline into 2060.

I would LOVE to know where he’s getting these numbers from — bc the IEA’s last non-Trump-pressured forecast shows oil demand declining as of 2030.

+ If it’s as profitable as he claims, our climate is fucked.

The IEA’s bombshell new report on renewables has incredibly good news. For example, solar is undergoing a mega boom & may surpass coal by 2027

IEA's mid-year electricity review is out. Some highlights below:

First time in 100 years, renewables are set to overtake coal in global electricity production as soon as this year (or latest next year).

Wind + Solar contribution to global grid mix will reach 20% by 2026, up from 4% in 2016.
