I worked for IICSA. The Tory government ignored the findings of the report and failed to implement the recommendations. Badenoch can, and I say this with all due respect, go fuck herself.

A reason to clear out your downloads folder regularly: just sent a friend details of our hotel booking, a travel itinerary and the IICSA reports into child sexual abuse.

I know it's partly because re-reading the IICSA report quite as much over such a short space of time has made me miserable and fractious, but I am almost blind with rage at the people who visibly have not even bothered *still* to acquaint themselves with the inquiry they have decided is inadequate.

What did the IICSA inquiry not do that it wants done? The same question could be asked of the Tories. (FWIW some of this country’s local inquiries have also been deeply forensic over the last 15 years - there’s no lack of conclusions out there.)

I spent the latter half of last year investigating child sexual abuse in the British military, some of which involved reading the Truth Project submissions to the IICSA, and I am so angry, Stephen. I am so so so so angry.

In November 2017, as part of its larger mandate, the national Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) undertook an investigation into the prevalence of paedophilia in the English Benedictine Congregation and its failures in protecting young people over many decades, focusing on the abbeys of Downside in Somerset, Ealing in London and Ampleforth in North Yorkshire. The final report outlined a series of failures at Ampleforth but also noted the ongoing efforts of both the Abbey and College to address the safeguarding concerns.[18] It found credible allegations of physical, emotional and sexual abuse perpetrated by monks and lay members of Ampleforth. In addition safeguarding concerns were noted about some monks relating to grooming, inappropriate touching and pornography addiction. The Ampleforth monks named in the report included: Piers Grant-Ferris, Gregory Carroll, Bernard Green (deceased 2013) and a number of unidentified monks referred to as RC-F3, RC-F8, RC-F27, RC-F16, RC-F18, RC-F91 and RC-F95.[19]

Rather than fixating on the world's richest man and his constant grandstanding, we should focus on protecting children by implementing the IICSA recommendations the Tories failed to act on. For victims and survivors, priorities matter... not nonsense like this ⬇️
