My public library has a SEED LIBRARY where you can check out seeds for your garden! Such a great idea for people to grow their own food and try new varieties. #defendthepubliclibrary #libraries #ilovethelibrary #library #oregon

Another hold came in from the library. I also learned that there IS a way to space out holds so they don’t all come in at the same time.

The cover of Tattoos: The Untold History of a Modern Art by Matt Lodder. The cover shows a woman in a short black dress sitting in a chair. She is facing the camera, smiling, and her hands are behind her head. She is covered in tattoos.

Someone described this book as "Middle-aged, retired pirate woman and her crew go on one more swashbuckling quest.” Who could resist that?

I think I'm going to like this book.

A quote from The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty. "Ah yes, a certain degree of rebelliousness is expected from youth. It is why we have stories of treasure-seeking princesses and warrior women than end with the occasional happiness. But they are expected to end - with the boy, the prince, the sailor, the adventurer. The man that will take her maidenhood, grant her children, make her a wife. The man who defines her. He may continue his epic - he may indeed take new wives and make new children! - but women's stories are expected to dissolve into a fog of domesticity...if they're told at all. Amina's story did not end. Verily, no woman's story does."

I finally sat down to read the third Emily Wilde book. I don’t know how I managed to wait so long.

Excerpt from Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett I see now that my downfall is a suitor lies in my ability to offer you only a castle, great quantities of faerie silver, and various enchantments to dazzle and provoke you, instead of the full bound collection of Dryadological Fieldnotes.

Trump’s trying to gut funding for libraries: you can fight back with ALA.

The President's executive order to dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services would be deeply harmful. We need to speak out.

Take action NOW: tell Congress to protect library funding.

I don’t usually read autobiographies but I have really enjoyed this one. I’m trying to get my friends to read it.

#books #booksky #ILoveTheLibrary #NeverNotReading #ZarnaGarg #autobiography📚
Quoted text from Zarna Garg’s autobiography This American Woman: A One-In-A-Billion Memoir I get that some people are fashionists. It’s fun for you. You’re good at it and it makes you look good. But for those of us who can’t keep up or who are bored to tears by it, fashion just seems like yet another way to control women by wasting their precious time and money. I mean, what would it look like if someone were trying to do that? Maybe it would look like convincing women to fixate on desperately trying to at attain the unattainable aesthetic ideal. Then changing up that unattainable ideal every “season” so that being “in fashion” becomes this permanent semi-matter state that no woman has the time or money or or perfect body and hair and body hair to keep up with. “No, not that color, this color.” “No, not that type of embroidery, this type.” Who the fuck cares?
