This article is a good summary of the situation. The only thing I'm not sure I agree with (and I say this as very much Some Guy On The Internet, not an Iran expert) is I'm not sure Iran's strategy IS failing. They can't win outright but they can make this war painful for everyone, not just them.

Again referring to the @bitdizzy.bsky.social guidelines: I think that when conducting warfare there should be Geneva Convention like protocols in place to ensure the earth does not get scorched, because too much infra-community fighting will simply render the space uninhabitable.

Nature bodies are warning they're in danger—even before the Planning and Infra Bill passes.

but LLMs are not: you mostly can't tell what kind of LLM being used for a particular task, and setting up the infra to ensure that regulatory bodies *can* tell what LLMs are being used is *extremely invasive*[1]

Of course, in the INFRA-ENSURE project, we will include investment (or not) in CCS and CO2 pipelines as a key dimension of the scenarios. This will allow to identify no-regret policy options and quantify investment needs and plausible timelines towards climate neutrality.

I don't drive, why should their requirements be more important than mine? I ensure when I move it's near good bus routes, cycle infra & shops. It's not that difficult to do.

What do you disagree about?
Regarding lock in, one of the first things I did at Bluesky was to ensure our infra was "cloud agnostic" in that we didn't build any of our backend on AWS/GCP specific technologies.
Which made moving *much* easier.

Our infra has been tested already at around 70 km/h just recently. So this should not be catastrophic.
Anything over 60km/h is dangerous. 93km/h+, if sustained, can start throwing around trees.
Best to avoid travel, ensure everything is anchored, watch for debris.

I'm a fan of the British Suffragettes who sent letter bombs to politicians. The Underground Railroad in the US was pretty great. There's a case to be made for the Weather Underground who worked hard to ensure no one died from their infra bombings.

They were talking about this on OPB today - seems like they'd want to ensure they have the votes before calling it. For the 'expanded' version, that would be tough. But maybe some kind of narrow thing like the 3 cent gas tax that the R's killed?

Maybe it turns out that for a significant amount of that infra, only the public sector that's ready and willing to manage those homes. If so, it's our responsibility to reform public agencies as necessary, to ensure that they do right by tenants. That seems like a viable approach to me.
