I am disgusted by her fake tears. She not once acknowledged #ioad and her government’s policies mean more AB families are grieving.

I went to IOAD last year in Bellwoods, which happens every Aug 31. I'm assuming that's what this is from.

It shook me. I couldn't imagine the pain of losing a loved one the way some of the people who spoke that day did.

Framing this memorial as a celebration of a lifestyle is beyond incorrect.
This is a memorial, “I miss you still”, that was installed at the end of a funeral procession. The “weird art” is a telephone that encourages people to dial in the number of dead people so you can process your grief by speaking to “the wind”. Many types of memorials have them.

it’s August 31st and

what I’m not ready to be over: summer

what I’m very ready to be over: toxic drugs killing thousands of people in our communities every year, a decade into a public health emergency — but it doesn’t have to be this way 🖤💔

Today on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the people we have lost to Canada’s drug toxicity crisis.

To mark this day, we're projects and resources that can help to support informed conversations that point toward the kind of change communities are working to build.

25 years on, overdose prevention is still needed. People involved in the justice system face a high overdose risk.

Courts can be part of the solution through naloxone access, connections to treatment and greater awareness.

Falling overdose rates don’t happen by accident. It happens because organization’s like Corazón show up without judgement. We supported their syringe program which helps prevent HIV and connects people to care.

On #IOAD, we’re proud to celebrate the people delivering these life-saving programs
