Kill the US empire: torrent everything.

Aww. The person who insisted that I have to stop cosplaying as an IP lawyer blocked me. Probably my fault - I mean, I really *did* spend years of my life engaged in intensive study so that I can troll weapons-grade muppets on Al Gore's internet.

But saying that out loud might have been a bit much.

1. Defect Laden
2. Resource Intensive
3. Unclear Path to Profitability
4. Rely on Use of 3rd Party IP w/o Compensation

If you are willing to take 1-4 seriously, I’ll talk to you about consciousness issues.

Ah yes, store signage, that's how you know it's a paradigm shift and not just people switching from clipart, stock photos, and unlicensed IP usage to the same thing but easier and more resource intensive.

Drawing comics is 90% literally making it up as you go. Even if you have *chefs kiss* character designs, that will most certainly change once you realise how labour intensive they are to repeatedly draw 😆 (see: drawing any CGI IP EVER)

That's not... exactly a viable expectation, I feel. Like, there's a very good chance Buzzfeed can produce a contract that says they own the IP, and litigating something like that would be very time and finances intensive to the point that it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Devs on this game told me for years that the hardest and most time intensive part of the game was building and rendering new stadiums. Nearly doubling the size of the games assets (players, uniforms, IP, etc) is legitimately a big ask! Would assume most people would rather prioritize gameplay
can't give the devs at a studio that just made EA millions in sales too much work after all

Teaser: a colleague (Sasha Rubin) and I are planning a 3-day (free) "intensive Winter school" at #USyd on computational complexity: specifically, interactive proofs (IP=PSPACE) and the PCP theorem. July 22-24!

I don't know how many people here are nearby and keen, but if you are: please do join!

I don't think enough people realize that using The Muppets (and I'm including Sesame Street in this) is labor-intensive, often prohibitively expensive, AND writing for them properly requires a delicate touch. They aren't a blunt instrument you just shove into public domain IP and hilarity ensues!

For decades the video of the magical Bose suspension has been something people believed must have been faked because it looked too good to be true. It was just too heavy and too power- intensive to actually build in a car, but somebody bought the IP and developed it to work at scale.

Strong #IP rights are a key driver of American #innovation and economic growth, supporting 66 million #jobs and 44% of U.S. private sector GDP, according to the latest data from the #USPTO.

Either he is so incredibly stupid that nobody should trust him as an expert on anything or else he is deliberately conflating all digital technologies and labelling them AI in order to normalise the use of resource intensive, IP stealing generative AI and hoping his readers are too stupid to notice.

At first I was like “okay, taking something that’s not really story intensive like Mario and making a “faithful” movie out of it is silly and dumb IP milking, but that it’s gotten to the point of hubris believing it will save films? Now I’m groaning hard.
I hate him so much dude

Dans les infos collectées pour le ESTA, ils ont récemment ajouté la liste des adresses IP

Avec mon utilisation assez intensive de proxys avec @agoratlas.com, je pense que ça irait plus vite de leur donner 0.0.0.0/0 🤭

It would be more accurate to call it a system with its own biases and demands. They’re building energy intensive infrastructure to serve the system. They’re going to rewrite IP laws and overturn the liberal arts to make way for it. It’s not a simple tool like a hammer.

mostly tho, the only thing regulation can do here is hinder. training is (compute) capital intensive, but if there was the additional requirement of owning the entire training dataset, it'd also become IP-capital intensive. SD wouldn't exist because it'd be illegal, but disney would still be fine.

So basically the tech is being sold as an expensive and resource-intensive *downgrade* to tech we already had that was working quite well, on top of the issues surrounding IP theft, ecological drain, layoffs, etc

Take AI: It needs resource-intensive data centers for the growth it promises investors and companies are moving quickly/aggressively to deliver. They will gladly guzzle up everything from gas, to water, to IP. [3/]
