#IWPR
I just said in my discussion at the IWPR event on women’s economic policy: asking “why am I hearing this and why I am hearing this now” is good praxis for the moment.
If you've heard about Last Ditch Bar & masks, but not Taylor Lorenz lecturing disabled Palestinian activist Maysoon Zayid for NOT wearing a mask...

& the online left laughing at Lorenz's stance on masking...

you've fallen for the media wanting to make leftist queers look like weirdos
I don’t know anything about the lesbian bar you’ve all been picking on but I do know the stats on lesbian bars are depressing and that seems more important.

The most vicious part about this as a black woman is knowing that even if there is a "Great Reset," we will be told to go back to waiting our turn while everyone else has their harms acknowledged and addressed. Waiting to put our foot back on the first rung. iwpr.org/iwpr-new-rep...

This is #TheDoubleTax.

(Also IWPR is an AMAZING institution that puts out reliable analysis at the intersection of race and gender: iwpr.org)
According to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR), Black women have lost more than three times as many jobs compared to all women across 2025’s job cuts. These losses span professional and service roles, like health care, education, social work, and more

This morning I want to help debunk a headline I keep seeing about Black Women's unemployment:

By the end of 2025, 600,000 Black women were not out of the workforce. That number signifies who got DISPLACED. The end-of-year number is actually between 217,000 and 250,000 cc @epi.org and IWPR.

“Nationwide, the Dobbs decision that overruled Roe has led to a staggering $133 billion in economic losses each year, IWPR estimates.” #Pinks
#ProudBlue #Voices4Victory

Not only has overturning Roe been disastrous for women & infant’s health, it’s led to a staggering $133B in economic losses each year. This isn’t just a women’s crisis, it’s really a national economic crisis of significant magnitude.

The costs of restricting abortion? More than $130 billion per year.

IWPR also reports that employment losses were closer to 250,000. This is similar to @epi.org, but a bit higher.

Again, their analysis factors in displacement and people regaining employment elsewhere.
