My kids straight up don't believe me that I grew up having to fill trays of water to get ice, because our fridge has a magical icemaker inside the freezer
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

Our fridge icemaker stopped working last year (a known problem with the model), and wouldn't you know, as soon as we bought a little countertop icemaker that mother effer randomly started working again. The nerve!
