Here’s a photo taken in the light, with the title below the drawing, so you can actually see the Spite Squids. This took 4 days, so I want y’all to see it. 😀😁💜💜💜

My OC, The Alien Brain (a brown brain creature with long neuronal limbs, suspended in a tank of fluorescent yellow-green fluid), is holding a big red book titled “Evil for Dummies”, peeking over the top edge at the species they made, green squid-head beings with little bat wings & red eyes (but no arms; they use their tentacles for holding). Unfortunately, The Alien Brain used Spite instead of Spice in the mix, & they are all evil! Nine Squids are visible; they are all wearing blue robes that are decorated with gold designs. Back row, L-R: Squid 1 has a bottle of orange liquid & a corkscrew. Just in front of them, Squid 2 is holding a bottle of purple fluid and a pamphlet labeled “How to be Evil”. A sign is taped to their back: “INK ME!”. Squid 3 has their tentacles spread over the back of Brain’s tank. Squid 4 is white, with hollow eyes, like a ghost. Squids 5 & 6 are gesturing at each other with their tentacles, 5 showing 6 a book titled “Evil for Fun and Profit”. Front row, R-L: Squid 7, eyes closed, is gesturing at Squid 8, who is holding a sign reading “BAD = YES!”. Squid 9 is wearing a round yellow button that reads “Ask me about EVIL!”, with a fanged smiley face underneath. On the back right wall is a white poster: “EVIL A Mantra A Philosophy A Lifestyle A Lecture Series! *Evil for fun and profit! *Free yourself from Brain! *Revenge without arms! *Unchaining your morality! Tuesdays, 3am, or else!”. My OCs, The Watchers (gold-winged creatures with no faces) are huddled on top of The Brain’s tank. The one on the right is saying “I’m sure we’ll be fine…”. To the left of the tank is the hand lettered movie description: “The Twisted Creations of An Alien Brain! Held captive… Until one HIRED A LAWYER!”. The title is digitally attached to the bottom of the image, on a pale green rectangle: “THE PHONE CALL OF” (in smaller black) “CTHULHU” (in green).

For #day2 of #smArtist, my #national flower would have to be the English rose. For this #wovenpaper card, I used a variety of rose pictures, which were cut out of old gardening catalogues. Ten strips of the pictures were then interwoven to create the card #reuse #savedfromlandfill #ilovecrafting
I used a variety of mauve, pink and yellow roses to create this card, and chose a mauve card to complement these colours.

As it's Easter, here are some things I used to make and sell at craft markets. The crocheted 'dumpties' each contained a well-known creme egg, and the fabric bags held some miniature chocolate eggs. Both were reusable 😊 #crochet #fabricbags #handmade #reuse #ilovecrafting

This was made from pale lavender-coloured felt, with an orange and dark mauve appliqued pansy secured with an orange button, and a mauve ribbon hanging loop. Buttonhole stitch was used to secure the pansy, and sew the two heart-shaped pieces of felt together for the bag. The vintage plate was part of a tea-set inherited from my late mother-in-law.

Using a paper punch for the butterflies, there are three rows of three, each containing a 'white' place name, attached to a square red card. I used old maps which would have been thrown away - SUCH a waste!!

Blue and white dotted/striped fabric was used for the body, plus red bias binding to join the two sides. In the centre, a cupcake was made from dark blue and red/green flowered fabric, with red fabric for the icing. It was topped with a green button picking out the green leaves of the cupcake fabric. White buttonhole stitch was used to applique the cupcake to the background fabric. The same fabric was used for both the carrier bag holder and the cupcake on the tea-cosy. It was elasticated around the bottom to prevent bags from falling out, but the top was more open, to accept new bags. The hanging loop was made from 1" wide white tape

For today's #FebruArty #bigandsmall theme, knitting needles! The very large ones were bought for a project which didn't ever happen and the small steel ones were in a tin of assorted pre-metric needles inherited from my Mum #knittingneedles #ilovecrafting More information in Alt text
Two very large (25mm size) knitting needles plus two very small (number 13) knitting needles on a vintage embroidered tray cloth. Pre-metrification needles were known by numbers, and number 13 is the equivalent of 2.25mm today

To turn the original parsnip into different characters, I scoured my stash of old magazines for suitable clothing etc The original parsnip already had two 'legs' & I attached a couple of tendrils for arms, a small potato for the head & the top of a courgette for hair/hat. And the legs were just crying out for a pair of Wellingtons!

A nice easy theme for #Day27 of #JanuArty, as I love using #red - such a vibrant colour! This is a rag rug, made from material samples which would have been thrown away, had I not rescued them. All 4,500 strips of fabric were hand-cut & knotted on individually 😊
