#ImageMaking
AI bootlickers get so mad when you tell them that the imagemaking is based on theft

They start projecting scenarios in which you would use something that was ethically sourced, which at this point really doesn’t exist. Then they threaten you: use it or be left behind.
I do know AI is useful for some people. Great. I get that. But when someone says, “I don’t like it” and you say, “Fuck you, eat it all,” you’re not really making a case that it’s actually something the other person would in fact like if they just gave it a chance.

unfortunately the Hollywood imagemaking machine can't comprehend let alone make legible "midsize with round face"

A pen and inkwash drawing from many ages ago. It's so hard to get this kind of loose feeling from digital. With robots taking over much of the digital imagemaking I feel like I need to get back into working with natural media. #penandink #rooster #humanart #drawing #handdrawn

Visiting relative introduced gen AI imagemaking to my son, and for the sake of peace for the remaining few days they are here, I just frowned and didn't make a fuss, but jfc it pisses me off. 😠

Penny, for your thoughts: What is your relationship to imagemaking? Are you addicted to photography? Is it an obsession or just a hobby? I'm thinking about how we engage with our passions and am curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance for sharing.

CIVIL WAR: The simultaneous impulses to issue a state of the nation and create a hallucinatory allegory completely cancel each other out, and Garland’s self-conscious imagemaking has little feel for the madness this requires; some good setpieces but mostly shallow.

Wednesday's mid-season finale features a massive Tim Burton monster rampage and what I swear to god is an extended riff on Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II. Naturally it's my favorite Wednesday episode ever.
'Wednesday' Season 2 Episode 4 Recap: The Harder They Fall
In terms of sheer imagemaking, this is Tim Burton’s best work on the show.

what capital has always promised is a debasement of human creativity; generative ai offers a very specific debasement of language and imagemaking. any properly sane and viable society would protect these things at almost any cost

CAST A DEADLY SPELL (1991) wallows in some unfortunately regressive 90s plotting & only loosely uses the great premise of a magic-casting culture in 1940s LA, but it's still fun for its stacked cast & playful pulp imagemaking. The pleasures of a shot like this are missing from modern genre fare.

And a lot of it was imagemaking and message discipline. Clinton’s rapid response war room, and presenting as a “country boy” (which he was, from birth) and presenting liberal policy in ways moderates could appreciate (eg, abortion rights as “not government’s business”).

The imagemaking box can emit polished images but it cannot yet be trying to say something.

These statements are all independent of the moral worth of imagemaking AI and if StableDiffusion were trained off exclusively images fit for Wikimedia Commons it would all be true, but the 'other side of the war' point really doesn't help the chances here

It's confusing, isn't it? I think of art photographers as artists — photographers who consider their imagemaking an art practice.

Canada's parallel ruin is happening much more quietly, Federally and in multiple provinces, but it is steadily happening, at the hands of global capitalism and fascist ally Carney.

Paris, a Canadian, has helped expose some of that underhanded work, digging under a thick layer of garbage imagemaking

oh, I love your work. I think your linework is delicate and the imagemaking and color work is strong and that's a great combination.

Good question, Dan. To me, an art photographer is a photographer who uses their imagemaking as an art practice. In short, an artist. Are you an artist? It's not always a "yes" when you ask that question of photographers. Does that make sense?
