Incrementalism except you don't stop after the first increment.
I think there's actually a useful difference we can draw here. Namely: there is incrementalism that comes from pushing wherever possible (and with whatever levels possible) to make progress toward a maximalist demand, versus incrementalism that's positioned as an excuse for setting minor goals
My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people.
And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.

The real lesson here is that once you get a voting bloc behind you they will accept incrementalism that they’d otherwise condemn as laudable progress (and that’s good).
My entire life I've heard centrists scolding leftist candidates with "oh, but how will we pay for all that? isn't your agenda unreasonable? shouldn't we run on a modest proposal for means-tested tax rebates?"
