Philly's incumbant DA Krasner is smashing it.

The reason I'm not dismissing this out of hand isn't just the environment (though that's part of it!) it's that Greg Abbot is now a four-time incumbant and that is a long, long time to be on the ballot

"Diverting money from a failing Republican Senate race in North Carolina to try to save a Kansas incumbant Republican" is a headline I never thought Id live to see...

it is really difficult to dislodge incumbant american agglomeration and this article is overselling how well china is doing at it.
Europe over-regulated its tech companies into irrelevance and is now upset it depends on American & Chinese companies.

While this is an oversimplification given both China & America are richer and more unified economies for companies to build their base, it isn’t entirely wrong either.

This is just the plot of "The Distiguished Gentleman" except the incumbant is still alive.
Sen. Dan Sullivan’s campaign is accusing one of his opponents in Alaska and Democrats in Washington of recruiting a candidate with the same first and last name: Dan Sullivan.
Sen. Dan Sullivan accuses Democrats of recruiting Alaska Senate candidate with the same name
The incumbent Republican accuses Democrats of recruiting another Dan Sullivan to challenge him as part of an effort to confuse voters.

it is genuinely funny that the electeds who code to most people as left of nithya are part of of the centrist-police union coalition with the incumbant machine mayor

Voting for mayors, vice mayors and city councilors is now underway in all 5569 Brazilian municipalities, with the final results expected to be reported within hours after the polls close this afternoon. Here in Recife, incumbant João Campos (PSB) is expected to win in the 1st round.

These idiots seem to not understand that Raman making it into the runoff makes the incumbant Bass's life *harder*, not easier!

D+8 or D+9 is a huge reach - not likely currently - but we've just seen special elections come up D+20 and now Ernst - in an R+6 seat as an incumbant! - just bailed out. And she didn't buck Trump, so it wasn't a MAGA primary fear - and if IA is in play, so is TX and OH.

With 12% of the vote, Québec Solidaire gets 9 representatives in the National Assembly. With 13,2% of the vote, the incumbant Coalition Avenir Québec is.... ERADICATED. No seat. Nothing. Yes, electoral reform, with proportional representation as centrepiece, is a must.

I feel like the blame is going to be hoisted onto Democrats if they win anything in the elections, because people blamed Obama for 2008 housing crisis when he wasn't president until 2009. The incumbant Democratic congress is going to be blamed for starting Trump's Iran war.

They are both Democrats, but she is more Social-Democrat and the incumbant is a Corporate Democrat.

I say, do not vote for any incumbant. Ever.

We need a leader like Newsome to revitalize the democratic party. We need this now.

As the incumbant Mayor of Soup City, I encourage you to add a little white pepper to your onion, garlic situaish

Really kicks up the complexity of potato soup

Even if your incumbant seems popular and winning seems like a long shot. Dems need to feel some pressure, they need to sweat runforsomething.net

Almost like they're subconsciously accepting that Mamdani will soon be the incumbant

Trump picked Paxtpn for loyalty. He is so toxic most people think the incumbant would have had a better chance than Paxton. Trump gmay have turned Texas Blue, because he craves loyalty so much.

My little red town in NC just elected a democrat mayor over the republican incumbant. Whoohoo!

@kavi.bsky.social supports your thesis that we’re going to get at least several elections of anti-incumbant backlash. i think this probably continues until people forget the covid era happened at all. a decade maybe?
Consumer confidence data is basically useless for markets/econ forecasting at this point. There is just no universe where periods when inflation was 5x as high, real income growth was deeply negative, or unemployment was more than 2x current were better than the current backdrop.

age isnt *explicitly* disqualifying for an incumbant candidate if they appear as though they can do the job but i think it is reasonable to be skeptical of a senate candidate who’s beating the odds by finishing 1 term. mill’s really ought to be campaigning heavily to counteract the narrative too
Warren will be 80 at the end of her term and Sanders will be 89 at the end of his, but obviously Mills is disqualified by age
WHOA! This is actually huge. Warren endorsed Platner. #MESen. So far he's been endorsed by Bernie Sanders, Gallego and Martin Heinrich

Amid the various other flaws in their campaigns (some baked-in, some unforced) the two other women who've run as Democratic presidential nominees arrived as incumbants amidst anti-incumbant waves, and one of them (Clinton) still came very close. 2028 is going to be a different environment

Ultimately he won 2024 for the same reason he lost 2020, the gov fails to improve anything so people voted against the incumbant admin. The same dynamic will happen here.

In the heart of Doug Ford's war on bike lanes (ok there are some culture war things Ford is enthusiastic about) Fairclough beat his bike-lane-removing incumbant. So, there's hope (for bike lanes).

Media folks going on now about "how Biden fucked us" - no THEY did. They went along with the ruse that "we don't primary an incumbant," blacklisting any other candidate and playing guardian of the establishment status quo. Blaming it all on Biden is a way of trying to sidestep their own complicity.
