Teaching about Taíno & other Indigenous Caribbean peoples’ cultures from a decolonized perspective is about reclaiming OUR stories and celebrating our strength. It means focusing on our voices, histories, and experiences instead of the false ideas created by colonization. #taino #indigenousCaribbean

There’s widespread misinformation & infantilism of Taino culture among some Taino descendants. Wearing face paint doesn’t “make” someone Taino. True reconnection requires listening & commitment to decolonizing in community.
