A thread for #WritersLiftWednesday, featuring The Inkslingers.

Who are The Inkslingers?

Basically a group of writers who wanted to read a really good book of a really cool person and then chat about it.

It became its own thing.

Today I discovered that that the regimental nicknames for the Royal Army Pay Corps (literally the people who handled soldiers' wages, a role absorbed by the Adjutant General's Corps in 1992) was "The Inkslingers" and "The Quill Drivers." Those are excellent nicknames.

It was a delight to talk to @laurenwrites.bsky.social and the society of inkslingers yesterday on one of my favourite subjects - ossuaries! Here is another photo of one of the beautiful painted skulls of Hallstatt, which I mentioned

9 seasons, 9 appearances, 9 playoff births! The Inkslingers prove themselves again as a stalwart power in the PSL! But will they finally be able to claim a crown?

I love this quote! And if you do too you can hear me talk about Scully (and Mulder, and The X-Files' cultural impact) at the Society of Inkslingers event on 30 May!
To quote the 90s icon that is Dana Scully: "You're in the basement because they're afraid of you, of your relentlessness, and because they know that they could drop you in the middle of the desert and tell you the truth is out there, and you'd ask them for a shovel."

I didn’t forget, I simply intended to make this post now. :) Inkslingers secured their 8th playoff spot for season 8.

#TBBChat, I'm starting to use both a lot more. I have a wonderful group of friends called The Inkslingers. Occasionally, we all share some of our work with one another to feedback and help.

I also plan to work with @ottersediting.com in the near future.

However, I think things had to marinate in the brain soup a bit longer. And still have to.

I learned that by meeting tons of awesome indie authors, like you, and The Inkslingers, and so many more!

I’m writing an article for the Horror Tree website. It’s about #witchlit (do we have hashtags here?). If you’re current WIP features a witch, what do you want to know?

If you missed the Society of Inkslingers last event, I pity you. Don’t miss the next event. Follow @laurenwrites.bsky.social

George Lichty was a great cartoonist (1940s/50s). So inventive, with a wonderful line that looks loose, almost sloppy, but is so tightly controlled. This is a quality overview of his career.

Heeeeere it is. Definitely posted this yesterday 👀 For sure.

Glow up for Through the Shards of My Heart Cover. I also added the old one as a comparison.

I got a lot of help from my fellow Inkslingers. I'm so grateful for all their feedback on making this look really, really cool!
