#Innogen
Frankly I think my girl Innogen deserves a solid “what the fuck happened” when she wakes up next to a headless corpse with no explanation
Ok don’t let’s get carried away but I found something genuinely good on Threads.

Imogen. It's a corruption of Innogen, "maiden"/"daughter".

"It is incredibly unwise to compare the struggles of First Nations peoples with that of Highland Scots. They are distinct from each other."

“Imogen” is only a name because someone made a mistake in transcription - it used to be “Innogen”!

*Correction* Anna Farnworth

And as @atennantcytoact.bsky.social and I say, the connection between #MichaelSheen and #DavidTennant is always there:

Anna portrayed Innogen, Leonato's wife in the 2011 production of Much Ado About Nothing, with David and Catherine Tate.

Probably the most famous term to come from a typo is either the name Imogen (which is just Innogen misread) or Hebrides (all early sources call them Haebudas or similar)

Used to be team Innogen, until I drifted. Now I say go with the F.

I’d be inclined to go with Innogen. The Riverside and Pelican Shakespeare editions follow the Folio whereas Oxford, Norton and RSC all choose Innogen. Shakespeare’s contemporary, Simon Forman, describing a 1611 performance, gave the name as Innogen. Imogen could be a compositor’s error in the F.

A Shakespearean question of great moment, as I embark on final edits to Textile Shakespeare: Imogen (as per F) or Innogen (as per sources and most current scholarly practice)? I seem to have used both...🙄 No actual poll possible? but strong views or preferences welcome...

He is at Milford-Haven. Read, and tell me
How far ’tis thither.
… How far it is
To this same blessed Milford. And by th’ way
Tell me how Wales was made so happy as
T’ inherit such a haven.

Just reading the Globe's latest mag previewing this winter's productions in the Wanamaker, and it looks like they're using Innogen...

I have tended to go with Innogen and then worry that I was being a bit wanky, so now tend not to.

John Pitcher argued 'Imogen' might be a pun on 'imagine', used as a noun for anything imagined or created; which is what 'Innogen,' as a product of Monmouth's fake history, was. The names 'Polydor/Palador', and 'Cadwal' also read as puns on the 'British history' and its fictional historiography

Siiii, l’amiga de Mrs Maisel. És un nom celta “Innogen”, que Shakespeare va transcriure malament. #trivia
