Flood Alert for North Devon coast from Hartland Point to Lynmouth
High tides, strong winds and large waves this evening may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide on Tuesday evening.
Areas particularly at risk include Lynmouth, Combe Martin, Hele, Ilfracombe, Lee, Instow, Appledore, Westward Ho!, Clovelly, Bideford and Barnstaple.
The high tide at Ilfracombe on Tuesday evening is at 20:30, times of high water will vary along the coast. Forecast total high tide level is 5.09mAOD, which is 0.47 metres above tide table level. Force 5 south-easterly winds and offshore wave heights of over 1.2m are forecast over the high tide.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid beaches and coastal promenades, which may be flooded .

It's lovely there,we come to North Cornwall ,every year at least once and frequently pop into Devon , we usually see Instow, my dad was based there , in the Army in the mid fifties.

The beach at Instow was the turnaround point on my recent 40 mile bike ride along the Tarka Trail. If you stare hard out to sea, you can see Lundy Island on the horizon - just to the right of the tiny, white-sailed yacht.
