Topics I'd argue historical anarchist theory is better on than Marx and Engels: gender/patriarchy, the state (including how it arose and interconnects with capitalism), revolutionary strategy, imperialism/war. On other topics, like definitions of freedom, I think they have equally worthwhile ideas.

I strongly suspect this is true of every field. There is what people think they know about it, and then there is what the daily experience of it for those who are in it. There is a wide gulf, and every one of those jobs is harder than it looks from the outside.
I’m an architect and there is an enormous gulf between what people think we do and what we actually do. Design is such a small part of it.
