All I'll say is: higher prestige registers borrowing from lower prestige dialects and registers and cross borrowing of features and vocabulary between registers, dialects and languages is a phenomenon as old as interlanguage contact itself and does not have some kind of intrinsic moral value

I think the mix might be consistent with someone compiling from a number of different glossaries, but why the transliterated Turkish? Could also reflect oral transmission, where Italian sometimes functioned as an interlanguage.

A bit late to this. Selinker’s interlanguage concept is interesting, but I’m not sure how it helps teachers, beyond reminding us that acquisition is evolving and errors and difficulty communicating are inevitable and fine.

Maybe we teachers are fostering this attitude without realising when we do retrieval practise? I like explaining to students why we do what we do in lessons, and I have explained the concept of interlanguage. Y7 are probably too young to get it, so I mention my foreign accent and little more.
