Politicians and commentators (even @mrjamesob.bsky.social) have been claiming that recent peaks in migration are due to Ukraine and Hong Kong.

This is not true.

Most migration has come from India, Nigeria, China and Pakistan.

Even when immigration from Ukraine was at its peak, it was basically the same as from Nigeria and half of that from India.

The Hong Kong scheme was not big.

We need to take care not to let a Tory narrative distort the facts. Most migration has come from India, Nigeria, China and Pakistan.
