#Intersectionality
shared this earlier regarding discussions about transmisogyny (what it means, who experiences it, etc). the encyclopedia entry I link to (in the "Transmisogyny and Intersectionality" section) has my most thorough articulation IMHO...
yes, I discuss the interplay of oppositional & traditional sexism a bit in this essay: juliaserano.medium.com/what-is-tran...
but flesh it out further in this encyclopedia essay, specifically in the "Transmisogyny and Intersectionality" section: www.juliaserano.com/av/Serano-Tr...
What Is Transmisogyny?
My 2007 book Whipping Girl is probably best known for two things: It popularized “cis” terminology (which I did not coin) and introduced…

wow, intersectionality is really important! who could have guessed?

Accidental banger of a reading list, tho. Current events in America are an incomprehensible mess of irrational behavior if you don't have some baseline knowledge of those subjects.

Refusing intersectionality is one of the many bigot signature moves lol

Not to be an insufferable etymology nerd, but the term transmisogyny was coined before the term misogynoir. Of course, the framework of intersectionality predates both words.

White feminism without intersectionality is just white supremacy

intersectionality, dig it! super curious to see age x gender.
November 3, 2026 at 8:10 PM
lol, it's nuclear and AI intersectionality. fossil fuel is still the over arching weapon.
November 2, 2026 at 7:55 PM
Like, fuckin hell misusing concepts of intersectionality to literally assert hierarchies AND erase others for Reasons.
It Fucking Sucks.

istg the amount of people that dont actually understand intersectionality

I love that he needs both "Intersectionality 101" *and* "Critical Race Theory"

Intersectionality was too big of a threat for them
stg England is The Land Third-Wave Feminism Forgot
"MP has online argument with Canadian porn star" is unfortunately the least mental thing about this exchange

She got that white woman presumed intersectionality
October 31, 2026 at 3:21 AM
I mean the popular understanding of "intersectionality" is that it's a term that can be used to dismiss struggles that you don't care about, so what is there to abandon?

But no, struggles being interlinked doesn't mean that understanding how they reinforce and build upon each other is useless.

Every time I see people complain about TME/TMA it really amounts to 'I don't understand intersectionality and I'm entitled to ignoring qualifiers in conversation.'

Thank you. Stop bashing the home team. What happened to intersectionality?
November 2, 2026 at 4:05 PM
It IS in fact weirdo behavior to not have each others backs in solidarity, or to have community in mind.

Intersectionality seems to just go out the window for some people and it’s an ugly look.
October 30, 2026 at 4:36 PM
I tho k the weirdness disappears when you look at intersectionality as Crenshaw uses the idea E.g. transmisogyny becomes “the specific discrimination that trans women face.”

This is also true, imo, of similar terms such as misogynoir.

This quote is what intersectionality is about. Everyone's struggles are intertwined. Helping the most marginalized won't hurt you and will usually help you long term.
Yesterday, in a hostile 60 Minutes interview with a Bari Weiss acolyte who once called trans kids a “social contagion,” El-Sayed refused to budge on trans rights.

“A failure to show up and fight for that right is a failure to show up and fight for your own.”

just thinking how much less of a shithead I’d have been in my 20s if “Intersectionality 101” had actually been a required class

Excellent presentation today by @winnifredlouis.bsky.social on the "Trajectories of Collective Action and Social Change."

Network analysis and intersectionality is the way forward.

her claim transmisogyny theory is descended from misogynoir is very funny bc most of the popular transfeminists i've seen are very much in the vein of White Feminism rather than actual intersectionality
November 3, 2026 at 10:58 AM
(One side note: the “she’s a man” accusations about Banda are just as racist as they are transphobic. She’s Zambian and doesn’t have what white westerners have decided to call “feminine” features. So there’s some intersectionality to explore there)
