Tropical depression #IsangPH has formed near Luzon & will likely reach tropical storm intensity over the South China Sea this weekend. The next international name is Kajiki and the storm will impact Hainan Island Sunday then pushes into #Vietnam Monday.

The sun has risen on Invest #90W, which is revealing that there is an organized LLC under sustaining convection, meaning it is likely a TC making landfall in the #Philippines. This likely raises the ceiling in the SCS and a #typhoon is appearing likely!

Tropical Storm #Kajiki/#IsangPH has formed in the South China Sea and will pass near #China's #Hainan Island on Sunday before pushing into northern #Vietnam on Monday. Kajiki can reach severe tropical storm or typhoon intensity near Hainan Island or in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Typhoon #Kajiki ( #IsangPH ) has killed at least 1 and injured at least 8 as it smashed through northern Vietnam tonight, August 25.

As of August 25, the death is from #HàTĩnh, while 4 injuries were each in the province and #QuảngTrị.

Typhoon #Kajiki ( #IsangPH ) made landfall over #HàTĩnh Province, #Vietnam on the afternoon of August 25.

Kajiki downed power lines and trees in northern Vietnam, flooded rice farms in Hà Tĩnh, and fish farms in Quảng Trị swept away.
