8 years after the inexplicable closure of the Uckfield-Lewes line Isfield looks a little forlorn. It has since reopened as a short heritage line but pressure’s growing for this route to be restored to the network as it is essential.

Sessile Oak and Hornbeam ancient woodland in Isfield; by far the most biologically important wood I saw today (listed by Nature England as Ancient Woodland). But you can't go in because it's private. Many, many ancient woodlands in Sussex are private @righttoroam.bsky.social

Pleurosticta acetabulum on an ancient Quercus robur, Isfield East Sussex; a first-time sighting of this lichen for me. On deciduous trees in well-lit habitats; in the past common, but in the 21st century there have been few record. A very south-east lichen! @britishlichensociety.org.uk #lichenGBI

Icklesham (they have a not so tiny windmill / recording studio).
