#Isolationism
the distinction between aid and sales really does emphasize most Dems oppose this for moral reasons, not isolationism or anti-foreign aid sentiment
Two-thirds of voters support a bill to stop sales of 2,000-lb bombs, bunker busters and other weapons to Israel, and a majority support a full arms embargo. 70% oppose continuing to send weapons and military aid to Israel.

For the US it seems like people are already trying to settle on isolationism on right. At least thats where vance sees it.

"End the war" - isolationism
"Focus on inflation" - continue to scapegoat immigrants and foreigners for economic problems
"Put America First" - isolationism and more draconian immigration enforcement
"Rethink relationship to Israel" - coded antisemitism to justify isolationism

The first version was Father Charles Coughlin, when he went right-wing back in the 1930s, ranting about America First isolationism prior to WWII.
I still think you have to look back as far as early radio, with Father Coughlin starting his rightwards turn in the 1930s, and ramping up with Limbaugh. Then there's cable TV, and at that point you have most of the ecosystem, one disconnected from the mainstream and, ultimately, reality.

It's not surprising that Colby, who really works for the surviving Koch brother & whose job is to market the Koch's polite nativism & genteel isolationism in a way that's palatable for the beltway crowd by making it seem wise & prudent, would say this. 7/

Kiwis are worse than Americans when it comes to Isolationism exceptionalism. Also media told not to mention it as it would harm National
I mean that’s only ‘staggering’ if you’ve paid no attention whatsoever to the world.

Yeah; I think a lot of media analysis has ignored how much of Trump’s success was based on a GOP shift towards isolationism and non-interventionism that is now completely gone.
“trump isn’t going to start a pointless war” was a load-bearing part of his appeal going back to his destruction of jeb bush in the 2016 primary

How sweet that America gets to show the rest of the world we do not tolerate the cruelty, the indifference, isolationism, and the dishonesty… 🇺🇸🫶💙🍀 #BlueWave💙 #BlueTsunami💙

they surely won’t approve progressive corporate taxes on day one but their donors and supporters businesess had to be hurt by 🍊🤡 isolationism

She was quite awful but she would reject both the incompetence and the ultra nationalism/isolationism

It's just sickening seeing the US sink so low, but you voted twice for this. Not a shred better than Nazi Germany. Welcome to isolationism and authoritarianism, history has proven that only violence will sweep out this disease.

Tonight I saw a change, from hate to love, a repudiation of the MAGA & Project 2025. The dems wins, (especially here in GA) will turn the tide of racism, isolationism, and conspiracies into their failed fascism. Let's do this democrats! Make a difference for us common folk!
November 4, 2026 at 6:07 AM
Yeah, we had MAGA in the 1930s and 1940s already and arguably even before that.

US exceptionalism and isolationism are part of US culture, not a recent flaw. Fortunately FDR and his New Deal gang managed to steer the US away from fascism back then, but after Reagan and now Trump the risk is clear.

Can any country truly claim victory after spending billions to create border red tape only to surrender it years later? The Independent reporting a new UK-EU deal scrapping post-Brexit food checks and administrative hurdles proves isolationism failed. 🤔 #RejoinEU
What are the Brexit laws that could be scrapped in a new EU deal?
The government has estimated that a deal could add up to £5.1 billion a year to the economy

This an important element to get in front of— Vance is out there saying it’s 100% the war, and decrying calls for ‘amnesty’— essentially promising all the racism but with more isolationism. Doubling down on Millerism.

Filming the strike then watching the count is the whole link in one day. Dnipro gets hit because Moscow reads Western wavering as permission, and a vote against that isolationism is a vote Kyiv can feel on the grid.

I respect Ardyn a lot more who, dropped into his kingdom centuries later to find it thriving on historical revisionism, his own reality removed from history, normalized isolationism and a callous disregard for the outside world, just started fucking shit up LMAO

If we want to fix things, we need to understand what brought us here.

"In every situation the gameplan is the same: evoke fears of the other, use racism to stoke internal division, and build a voting block founded on isolationism and hate."

Yes, the reactionary discourse here is much more one of isolationism/throwing in our lot with the US right.

...They use every opportunity to impugn democracy. They use isolationism as a slogan to conceal their own selfish imperialism." - Vice President Henry A Wallace, April 9, 1944

MAGA isolationism markets itself as restraint. It delivers a free veto for Moscow over NATO and Ukraine policy, priced in before talks start. Restraint that rewards the aggressor is appeasement with better branding.

People can laud how their stubborn independence is cause for their success, as irrational as that sounds & is, but the world is inextricably interconnected, making any attempt at isolationism absolutely a fool’s errand. And, this regime is a ship of fools.

I’ve got a house from the spoils of a 2010’s tech IPO and I’m terrified of losing it in this garbage economy, can’t afford to move. Income is sparse and project based. Food is expensive. Looking forward to isolationism in this country ending so that we can have an economy I can participate in again.

Because part of me wants to see some of the world trying to figure out who all these incredibly bad forces are in the world. I don't think isolationism or peaceful people just trying to stay out of the way is really enough in the world.
