This is my favorite "I wish I could get paid for doing this bad a job" graph: US DoE's renewable energy growth forecasts each year vs. reality.

(They use the lower-end forecasts but these are only a tiny bit unfair.)

Thinking about how a half-dozen very powerful and promising RISC CPU architectures were shut down due to near-certain anticipation that Itanium would out-compete them. Whoops!
I like how DEC briefly built the best internet search engine as a little side project to show they could. Pure confidence that their core business lines would keep pumping out cash forever

After much fighting I've finally got HP Integrity Virtual Machines (Itanium Virtualization) working! Currently running the Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based Systems as a VM on HPUX 11i v3 March 2011 release!
