The J7W1 Shinden prototype did fly in 1945 (and again in Godzilla Minus One).

In 1:32nd scale, this kit from Zoukei Mura will have some impressive cabinet presence.

I.. I think I'm doing Orktober wrong...

These are a pair of J7W1 Shinden for playing Crimson Skies with Gaslands rules. And a set of rock pillars for the same, as well as for Titanicus. Both are still WIP. And both jumped the queue over a set of Ork Gargants for #Bloodsong I have sitting primed...

Trying to paint despite the heat, because I wanted to get this cockpit done. I could try and improve it, but I think this will have to do.

For the Godzilla Minus One fans, a 1:48th scale Kyushu J7W1 Shinden from Hasegawa

This image features a detailed illustration of the Kyūshū J7W1 Shinden, a Japanese WWII experimental fighter aircraft, set against a painted sky backdrop. The scene composition is dominated by the aircraft in a dynamic, angled perspective, suggesting flight, with the plane positioned at a slight angle from the upper-left to the lower-right. The wings are spread, the propeller is blurred from motion, and the background subtly portrays clouds and light, enhancing the sense of the plane moving through the air. The placement of the aircraft draws the viewer's eye into the image, with details of its design and livery clearly displayed. The central subject is the Kyūshū J7W1 Shinden, an unconventional propeller-driven fighter aircraft. The plane is characterized by its canard configuration with forward-mounted wings, a pusher propeller driven by an engine at the rear of the fuselage, and swept-back wings. The aircraft features a dark, somewhat olive-green exterior, with red markings on its wings and fuselage, indicating Japanese military identification, and the design showcases its unique features and aerodynamic design. The propeller blades appear blurred, indicating rotation, while the cockpit is clearly detailed. The artwork exhibits the style of traditional illustration, possibly used for a model kit box or similar purpose, with careful attention to detail and color blending. The artist has expertly rendered the metallic surfaces and the intricate details of the aircraft, with a slightly soft focus, creating depth. The artistic choices emphasize the unique design of the aircraft and attempt to create a sense of realism within the constraints of the medium.

🇬🇧 We go back in time! A first aproximation of a nalaki's strikecraft before the invention of the jet engine. Loosely based on the J7w1 shinden, the XP-55 Ascender and the Dornier Do 335 Pfeil. I added a grainy effect to simulate an old photo.

Very enjoyable film (USA Netflix) 👍

Consensus on the character Koichi Shikishima's (wonderfully played by Ryunosuke Kamiki) bike is a Meguro Model Z, Goggles are Halycon Stadiums.

The Kyushu J7W1 "Shinden" (Magnificent Lightning) was an actual late war prototype: 480 mph, 4X 30mm cannon 😼

My military expert friend Angus sent me a painting (by aviation artist Koike Shigeo) of the Kyushu J7W1 Shinden (Magnificent Lightning) aircraft that is featured in GODZILLA: MINUS ONE. He also says he was amazed by the accuracy of the CGI warships.
