Our study published this week: At both 90 days and 1 year after surgery, patients cared for by female surgeons were less likely to have been readmitted, have complications, and die compared to those cared for by male surgeons.

A new international study led by #AusHSI Dr Qing Xia and published in #JAMASurgery has found that #bariatricsurgery improves work productivity and employment rates in the short term—but these gains may not last beyond five years without targeted support.

Another study came out last week looking only at cholecystectomies (gallbladder removal) found patients operated on by women had fewer complications, shorter length of stay, and were less likely to have open surgery.
