My personal favorite camp on the continent. Fashioned out of a “jamesway” that was used in the Korean War. It’s a little more gritty and DIY than other camps, which gives it its charm and explains why I love it.

Home, sweet home, in Antarctica.
In the 1950s, this structure, known as a Jamesway, was used in the Korean War. How it found its way to #Antarctica a couple decades later, I’m not quite sure. For the last few decades it has been the field hut home to numerous scientists.

It was competitively priced but not usually the lowest priced. There was an "experience" element to all of it. I saw Bradlees, Clover, Jamesway, Caldor, etc. all fumble and fall and this was the pattern there, too.

My parents shopped at Caldor a lot, and they had an impressive toy and video game section. Got my samurai sybersquad toys there. Jamesway is the same, except I have a memory of going with my grandma before they closed, no TFs except for Wildfly there.

Along with K-Mart, Hills and Murphy's Mart were the main three stores we'd go to when I was little. Hills was the kids' best friend with toy dept. that was strong 365 days a year and a deep video game section.

Got it in a Jamesway department store in upstate New York. It was part of one of those 3-packs they used to sell.
The other issues in it were Team America 1 😂 and Star Wars 99.

I think this winter break I'm going to make it my goal to watch all the movies that never really sold on the discount VHS racks as a kid that you'd see year after year at places like Jamesway and Bradlees that I haven't seen like Necessary Roughness and re-watch ones I have seen like Celtic Pride.
