#JoeMurphy has been announced as #BirminghamRep’s new artistic director. Murphy is currently AD of Cardiff’s #ShermanTheatre. He takes up the appointment in early spring ’25.

During Murphy’s time at the Sherman Theatre audience numbers have reached their highest ever annual levels.

My cousin was a youth goalkeeper at #WBA around the time #JoeMurphy 🇮🇪 was there. Trained with him a few times.

In 1920, 65 men were held without trial in #CountyCork gaol by the UK and in August began a #HungerStrike. All but 11 were freed or moved. #MichaelFitzgerald died after 68 days, #JoeMurphy after 79. The rest held out for 94 days, ending the #CorkHungerStrike on #ThisDayInHistory.
