:nixos: #nix on :sailfishos: #sailfishos on the new #jollaphone 😎

I have finally begun sorting my user config into #homemanager in a way that I can directly reuse on my phone. Really nice having your exact, comfy shell environment right and natively in your pocket.

A to jsem vám říkal, že můžete měnit kryty, baterii a kameru sami? Žádné zalepené boxy, kde nic nejde bez specializovaných servisů!

Great attention to details by #Jolla - high quality screen protector with privacy filter (so smooth for swipe gestures) which comes with an applicator! Perfect for all-thumbs Carol. Next, decision paralysis on which TOH to outfit the #JollaPhone with on my trip to Slovenia!
#SailfishOS #privacyfirst
Viewing the Jolla phone straight on with privacy filter - bright screen and no loss of sharpness As I turn the phone on it's side you'll see less and less of what's on the screen until it's completely dark at around 60° Screen protector applicator with instructions. The applicator box is Jolla branded, so I'm hoping we can order just the screen protector in the future and reuse the applicator box. A collection of TOH (the other half) covers in Snow White, The Orange, and Inari Blue

Group photo with Jolla sailors in the Jolla office, surrounded by numerous boxes of Jolla phones and accessories in various stages of shipment prep. I'm holding my new phone (still in box) and grinning from ear to ear.

Seems to be my last chance to make backups from my year 2000-ish CDs. 1x "No audio CD", couple of very hard, but complete reads so far. 16 CDs checked.

(Local legislation allows reasonable amount of digital backups for personal use).

The Finnish company Jolla is back with the Linux-powered Jolla Phone. It's being positioned as an antidote to the US-dominated smartphone status quo of Android and iOS. www.wired.com/story/jolla-...

@rubdos Tested charging the #jollaphone with my #PinePower charging station. Charging via USB-C PD port is inconsistent, it first tries like 8V (wtf), and then either drops to 5V1A (couldn't reproduce in the video though), or goes to 9.5V@2.9A (~30W). The other USB-A ports all settle at 5V2A (~10W).

#jollaphone charges very slowly. I read that they're working on it. But I'm used to ridiculously slow charging phones, so not a surprise to me...

- 😑 bluetooth seems to be utterly broken though

Jolla Phone (2026) Bluetooth crashes randomly
This bug is weird as hell.. 1st connection to BT in car worked.. then 2nd start didn’t connect to car radio automatically. Manually worked. After I came home and wanted to pair my BT speaker it’s not possible. Restarting bluebinder also bluetooth services didn’t help. Restart bluetooth service, can search new devices, unfortunately they disappears after few seconds, and pairing is not possible :-/ I didn’t think, that BT can be worse than on Xperia 10V, unfortunately is 😃

- 🤩 cameras that just work without hacks (quality still very meh though, I guess you can't have Linux *and* a decent camera...)
- 🤩 one-click microG install
- 🤩 battery life seems ridiculously good compared to any Linux phone I ever used

Turns out, one of the #jollaphone battery backplate fingers wasn't seated properly. Uncrewing and reseating fixed it. Must have slipped @jolla QC, not a problem.
Jolla phone without back plate. One little metal finger of the battery plate sticks out
