Well, in Stevens' case in particular, her Islamophobia is manifestly *not* a function of doing religion, whether or not she is converting to Judaism. One clearly predated the other.
AND. In all cases, we need to be careful with naming Judaism as a cause for harm because it offers Nazis pretexts.

If you do bad things and act in bad ways towards people as a direct consequence of doing religion, then why shouldn't that be pointed out?
