When I was growing up, the US Navy had an Air Station in Glenview Ill just north of Chicago. Navy ships regularly arrived at its own Pier downtown. An air show or ship visit inspired enlistments or thoughts about 'going to sea' or the stars.

The incoming 2026 class of 'plebs' has 332 women and 855 men. 3,582 women applied for admission to the 2026 class.
