“In effect,” writes the NYT’s Peter Baker, “he bronzed some of his cartoonish social media juvenilia and bolted it to the taxpayer-owned building where two Roosevelts, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan once lived.”

So what I'm reading is that few of us will have our juvenilia studied like the Brontes did

Proofreading will be easy at least.

I have a meeting in a few hours with a special collections librarian at my doctoral alma mater that involves me saying “can we pull the Bronte juvenilia and all the Gillen from the comic collection”

That feels fitting for KG Day.

I’ve been caught up on the fact that many of the “young republicans” featured are in their late 20s or mid 30s. One was a GC. Vance trying to dismiss the texts as juvenilia of college kids is misleading as hell.

From his Wikipedia entry: “A Washington Times colleague said Podhoretz was "permanently frozen in juvenilia"

…and that sentiment could apply to much of the rightwing media types imo.

“The work of Einstein was initially treated by colleagues as the nonsensical juvenilia of an exceptionally brilliant youth.” Carlo Rovelli

Ok, but most apparently nonsensical juvenilia of exceptionally brilliant youths is the real thing.

Incidentally I think about all the folks who are recovering/reframing the Bronte juvenilia or other collective writing/home performance as part of the history of roleplaying, & also how many of the Actual Players I spoke to had experience in forum RP and/or fannish circles like this.

I look forward to the can of worms this unleashes, as I prepare to teach the Bronte juvenilia this afternoon.
A question for my TTRPG history nerds; when did solo play start? Is there a known starting point for that sort of game, or is that more of a modern idea among the indie community?
