The Kamagawa river (Duck river) which flows through Kyoto. Saw several species that we also have where I live in Dublin: the cormorant, Little Egret, tourists.

Earlier this summer, I read this delightful book called the “Kamagawa Food Detectives” where a detective/chef finds and recreates dishes from people’s memories.
It’s so great to hear that Jamiann is getting to do the same thing with traditional foods and methods!

In the building's Traditional Foods and Medicine Kitchen, instructors are bringing old ways to process and preserve food into the present. Foods like cheese kaháakw — a rich and smoky paste made of fermented salmon eggs.

Hisashi Kashiwai's The Kamagawa Food Detectives is good if you want a low key, cozy listen (with a lot of amazing food involved) but it also gets very repetitive and formulaic within its own structure. But it was a nice dog-walk listen. 💙📚
