Kara and Kazimiera both have no piercings. Ouch! I wouldn't want someone drilling a hole through my HORN.
Whenever they want/need to wear "ear" ornamentation, they use clips, hooks, wraps, etc. instead. Kara frequently does this with the Wayfarer's Earcuff.

Kass cannot read or write Eorzean when she arrives on the Source, of course. She doesn't really get comfortable with it until 2.x, when she's able to commit some downtime to better absorbing her new surroundings' language.

I'd actually been pondering this a bit. Kass comes from a world best summarized as "Frostpunk but Final Fantasy." Even taking clothes off is an uncommon luxury, but it's not like it's a world of celibacy either. Life endures, and it's not from growing people in a vat.

Kass actually has experience with ice fishing from the Eleventh. It's not possible in waters with thicker ice layers, but in areas where the ice isn't more than a couple of fulms thick—naturally warmer waters, generally—it's an important means of sustenance.
