I'm scared.
I'm anxious.
I'm also very active.

There's nothing we can do about the US but there's a lot we can do here to make sure it doesn't happen to us - especially in this election year #auspol

The fix is in

We've known from the start this would be a major party stitch up to lock out new community-backed independents.

Giving more taxpayer $$ to pollies with no truth in political advertising protections is particularly shameful👎

Labor and Coalition strike electoral reform deal
The major parties have agreed to more than double the donation threshold, ending a months-long stalemate to strike a deal that will infuriate the crossbench.

labor chose not to field a candidate in last saturday's #prahran by-election — looks to me that had labor run and preferenced the greens, the greens would very likley have won.

does labor hate the greens so much that they're prepared to gift the libs "momentum" in victoria? 🤔

How much smaller, meaner, greedier, insular, conniving can Australia become? John Howard started it, Abbott and Morrison plumbed new depths and Albo just plays in the tiny space they created. We want big, visionary, inclusive, generous, outward looking and honest- that is who we really are!

At the last election Australians sent three clear messages:

1. Ban gambling ads
2. Media Royal commission
3. Disrupt fossil fuel companies

3 years later. Nothing.

Albanese is a coward and the ALP has wasted another three years. Only community independents can drive change.

My feed is littered with news of the death of #democracy abroad and the reeking promise of biz-as-usual patchwork politics at home. The only story with any skerrick of #hope and inspiration is the rise of the #independents and their promise of a new kind of democracy - participation for all. #auspol

Ocean heatwave may have killed 30,000 fish off Western Australia. @billhare.bsky.social told @australia.theguardian.com marine heatwaves were known to trigger “extreme low oxygen events, which then create a bigger environmental mess” – though it's unclear if this contributed to the fish dying.

The Australian Government’s response to Trump's recent comments about the Gaza Strip is an embarrassing and disastrous failure.

We must do better.

Australia must support Palestinian self-determination & facilitate long-term peacebuilding in the Middle East.

With obscene salaries, lavish perks and Qantas chairman's lounge memberships, our top bureaucrats are very far removed from the lives of most Australians. This is the pampered elite that delivered #Robodebt. They need to be pulled down to earth. #auspol

Unlike:

2. We need to organise, as citizens. This means recruiting your neighbours, friends, acquaintances and co-workers, and coming together to protect democracy and stable governance. Isolated bellyaching is not a winning strategy, working together is.
