Labor condemned Robodebt. Why is it repeating the mistakes in aged care?

The Ombudsman has found serious failures in automated aged-care assessments. Labor promised to learn from Robodebt, yet human judgement remains sidelined when decisions affect older Australians' care.

"Robodebt’s lasting lesson is that automated decisions affecting people’s lives must remain lawful, transparent, contestable and subject to meaningful human responsibility."

But with #agedcare and welfare, Labor has learned the wrong lessons. #auspol

So Robodebt was a test run to see if anything happened to stop them and the answer was basically "nup, carry on".

Albanese put into place a dud #NACC that ensured Robodebt RC recommendations didn’t see the light of day.

Now he’s using the same tactic.

'Why don’t you just say this is about saving money?' State officials briefed on controversial NDIS budget algorithm are not happy as it seeks to copy and catastrophic aged care tool which the ombudsman just thoroughly trashed in a report. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/health/...
Exclusive: Confidential briefing reveals NDIS ‘copy and paste’
A briefing to state bureaucrats shows the new NDIS needs assessment tool will be almost identical to the dangerously flawed aged-care tool criticised by the Commonwealth ombudsman this week.

Indeed ->> "The Commonwealth Ombudsman’s investigation into automated aged-care assessments poses an uncomfortable question for the Albanese government:💥 what was the point of the Robodebt Royal Commission if its lessons could be so readily disregarded?💥"

This robodebt claim has me all bleak because even when I get that done I have to go right back to fixing community housing when all I want to do is be a worm in the dirt

The people responsible for Robodebt never went to Prison......They got off Scott Free

Put it in the never to be seen again filing cabinet at NACC, with the Sealed Robodebt report

Robodebt was supposed to be a warning, not a fucking blueprint. Algorithms determine aged care funding, a similar system is planned for the NDIS, & Centrelink is resurrecting debts calculated using methods later ruled unlawful. Different victims, same arrogance, not a fucking lesson learnt!

Aggressive debt recovery will cost the government in #mentalhealth #medicare costs because there’s no greater stress than financial stress!! #auspol is attempting #robodebt 2.0
Why does the government insist on trying to recover blood from a stone?

If they want to aggressively recover so-called debts from people who've relied on Centrelink payments, they should at least wait until they can actually afford to live.

Dammit, I really want to see jail time for the bureaucrats and ministers who approved and ran Robodebt despite the warnings it was illegal. The public, many of them hugely and irreversibly damaged by Robodebt, deserve it.

Albo's promise was a commission that would be transparent and would pursue corruption at all levels of Govt. Then NACC declined to pursue any Robodebt charges and made the decision against holding public hearings for major referrals. Then Brereton left after adverse conflicts of interest findings.
