My conversation with Elisa Costadura and Viktoria Moissiadis about the personal and intellectual relationship between Hans Kelsen and Carl Schmitt is out. Take a listen while you’re washing the dishes. (voelkerrechtsblog.org/59-hans-kels...)

it really is sort of fascinating that they have this sort of crude positivism that not even Hans Kelsen held to. Kelsen thought political democracy was a result of the value pluralism within society!
UK lawyerdom seems to have a fascinating belief that law exists somewhere outside of politics and therefore is firmly set and should not be discussed as a good or a bad.
Saying the words "protected belief" over and over again in place of an actual argument

Not to make this about Kelsen but Kelsen warned us that "national law monism" (the view that one's own legal system is the only valid legal system) is the legal theory of imperialism and militarism.

Incredible, they're actually doing Kelsen vs Schmitt in this case.

The oldest constitutional court in the world, brainchild of Hans Kelsen, is here!

Was honored to give the annual Hans Kelsen Lecture at the U. of Cologne: "Conditioning-Speech, Aggression, and the Evolution of Atrocity Speech Law": presentation.opencast.uni-koeln.de/paella/ui/wa...

Very proud that Kelsen, one of the greatest legal philosophers, taught at #Berkeley, my alma mater
