#Kinetoscope
A precursor to the kinetoscope, the Electrotachyscope was a German invention that showed zoetrope-esque photo animation in a box.

In 1893, fifty of these machines in coin-operated form were placed at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

Loved TV miniseries "Connections" (1978) about inventions building on earlier inventions.

It’s a weird painting. I’m not quite sure how to feel about it. The ‘peasant’/‘tech’ thing.

It has no date but if it is a kinetoscope at centre then it’s a v specific dating to 1894 and a couple of years after.
