rulebook specifically states you can do a drop kick on kickoffs. you can't do a punt, the ball has to hit the ground

Edison wanted sound movies almost immediately. The company had sound experiments and incorporated scores into Kinetoscope peepshow machines via communal earphones.

Watching a documentary about United Artists, and this one had a line about Thomas Edison, who had come up with the kinetoscope: "[Edison] was also a master of another Amerian institution: the Lawsuit."

These earliest films were usually friends, family and employees of the film pioneers before switching over to actors and celebrities. In 1894, moving pictures had been known to be viable for six years and kinetoscope parlors were a thing but projected movies had not yet been shown to the public.

August 31, 1897: Thomas Edison patents the Kinetoscope, a device which produces moving pictures. In it, a strip of film was passed rapidly between a lens and an electric light bulb while the viewer peered through a peephole.

On October 17, 1888, Thomas Edison filed a preliminary claim, known as a caveat, with the US Patent Office for a device that would "do for the Eye what the phonograph does for the Ear.” This device would eventually be named the Kinetoscope.

On April 14th 1894 in New York City, Thomas Edison and his newly invented Kinetoscope would give audience’s the first major commercial motion picture exhibition in the United States at the Holland Bros Kinetoscope Parlor. A selection of short films shot prior were shown through the device for 25¢.
