Today, 10 years ago, I arrived in Kippford on the Solway Firth, in preparation for setting off on my first big solo adventure - kayaking to all RNLI lifeboat stations around Scotland. It would be a journey of 1850 miles & thousands of incredible moments. Happy memories.

I've just delved back into the old photographs. This was taken about 2008-2010 when we went to Bute and then had a few days at Kippford on the Solway Coast. I think the giant wickerman must have been at Dundrennan in Dumfries and Galloway, site of a former music and arts festival.

At the famous 'Kippford Leaning Tree' that won Woodland Trust's UK Tree of the Year competition in 2021. The Hawthorn is thought to be 60-100 years old & survives harsh weather on the Solway Firth shoreline here in Scotland.
