Today’s entry in my classics reading project, a first: this episode of the national poem of Kirgyzstan, the epic of Manas, apparently the only one available in English or Spanish. It is a work transmitted by oral performance. Translation is prosified but reads very well.

When my daughter started going to *really* wild places, like Kirgyzstan, I bought her a Garmin Inreach - GPS location and messaging via Iridium satellites. She’s used it in anger a couple of times.
I have OS Locate installed on my phone, gives a Grid reference reading, but doesn’t transmit it.
