I want to rage against how she handles herself and the situation after their first meeting, but I can't. I wish the world were different, but sadly, this does reflect reality. 😔 Him I loved immediately. Loving her took a few chapters, but she won me over. Once I was in their camp, there was no turning back! -- Book quote 'All I know is I can't walk away when she's in this state.' -- Lucas Hale The darkest moments occur early on. From there, this becomes a mildly angsty, smexy, and really good story with some humor and plenty of heart. I love that Lucas is there for his teammates even when they've done nothing to earn it. I'm totally sold on this series and look forward to more. Some of the situations mimic reality, like QBs not knowing when to retire, cocky rookies, and a woman trying to make herself invisible to fit into a man's vision of her. I was also left wondering how close to reality are the reactions when players are no longer viable on the team / field? I expect they're in the ballpark of what's here. I listened to the audio book. The narrators, Lance Greenfield and Kit Swann, are in duet, and you know how much I love a good duet coupling. They definitely lived up to my expectations.
