one annoying thing is that the screenshot tool kinda sucks a little, having to click on the capture button to capture unless there is a keybind this one missed... and no screen recording tool (kooha works fine though).

i wrote a script to automate recording netflix episodes using OBS, and since I can't really use OBS while recording netflix with it, i used kooha instead

@paracausalex.siren-vibes.ts.net gpu-screen-recorder seems to work! a bit janky but did what i wanted and produced a reasonable file size. haven't tested audio yet though
i tried kooha but it gave me an error popup saying "element failed to change its state" when i clicked record :(

PLS SAVE ME FROM THIS AGONY, IVE BEEN REPEATING IMSCARED FOR THE PAST DAYS bcuz Im doing a walkthrough BUT MY COMPUTER ISNT EXACTLY GOOD so when too much apps are open at the same time THE RECORDING FREEZE too before I was using Blue Recorder and after 6 minutes the sound would stop now I use Kooha

the ui is not so good but i think gpu-screen-recorder might work for u if niri supports the right protocols/portals so i would recommend trying it. the ui is not very good imo but its whatever. there is also kooha which is cute but idk abt hwaccel

In the absence of a native one for elementary OS, i've found a cheeky little screen recording app called Kooha on Flathub. It has options for choosing which display/window to record plus audio ones for mic and desktop sounds and it also saves to mp4. #Linux

Honorable mentions though for pypeek and gifile, which also have great UX and allow to edit the result. But sadly they don't propose scaling.
Also Kooha seemed promising, but I couldn't make it work.
