But it's the kind of weirdness you have to embrace if you want to train in kenjutsu, or iaijutsu, or any of the koryū bugei—literally, the "old-school martial arts" of Japan.
Nobody trains in a koryū because they want to be John Wick or Jack Reacher.
They don't even do it to become Toshirō MIfune.

I feel like maybe I should start a blog about martial arts but who writes blogs these days anyway.
The further down the road (道) I am the more etiquette from Koryu traditions makes sense to me. I don’t know if this is fossilization or growth.

See, every time I've brought up "Tenzen is a previous life of the WoL" someone objects that because Tenzen used his spirit to seal Koryu, he couldn't be.
However, given our current understanding of souls, maybe its just his life force in the seal, and the soul proper went to the lifestream?

Some of us aren't Occidentalists. Not only have we been Sengoku Jidai Dads for half a century, we have more than modern reconstructions and supposition to work from. We still have living lineages. #koryu #TenshinBukoRyūHeihō #naginata
Conventional wisdom says that all dads have to pick between being Roman Empire dads or WWII dads, but I've chosen to be a Late Bronze Age Collapse dad.
Been thinking a lot about the a Bronze Age collapse and the fall of the Western Empire.

Yūsai-san examined an imperial kōrozen-no-gohō in the possession of Kōryū-ji (広隆寺), and managed to reproduce the dye used in creating the garment.
Because the dye behaves mysteriously in different lights, it is known as 'maboroshi-no-zome' (幻の染 'phantom dyeing').
