We went to Dazaifu today after Kurume. It's a city with a famous Shinto shrine and absolutely gorgeous views. There's a street leading from the train station to the temple with lots of cute shops. The specialty of the area is bean paste-filled mochi that is then grilled.

Posting a thread of some of the stuff I picked up in Japan! I figured some people might be interested in this!

First off are all items I got from temples/shrines. The plaques are from Nanzo-in and Kurume Narita-san. The goshuincho I got from Hokkaido Jingu. It has stamps/calligraphy from our trip!

These artisans do kurume kasuri, tie-dying the yarn before weaving to make precise and beautiful patterns where undyed warp and weft meet
Kumano is a small town, about an hour from Fukuoka, that has a significant community of indigo artisans. With a bit of luck and planning you can visit a studio and even dye your own cloth.

Another incredible day here with @linneaharts.bsky.social. 🤩
