#LAANC
If these dingbats filed a valid flight plan with LAANC they'd get automatic FAA authorization to fly below 50 or 100 feet depending on where on Long Island they were:

Actually, look up LAANC access. It is possible to fly in some airspace with drones. It really depends on precise location and altitude. Even if LAANC access isn’t possible, the other permissions might be.

In a past lawsuit it was stipulated that any drone can operate in class G airspace at 83 feet. Even over your house. Where this statement is ridiculous is that to fly in other controlled airspace one needs an FAA LAANC. You're not getting any coffee by drone soon. Duffy is a moron.

A normal FAA drone self incident report, say of accidentally flying too high, or skipping through a TFR, or not having proper LAANC approval usually takes a while to respond to.

"Civil Servant/Police Officer attempted to bring down a sUAS via firearm"

That tends to make them look up quick.

Hey Faine. I just put up a dolly shot and photo from my drone flight over No Kings Boston today. Unfortunately, though I had LAANC authorization, BPD came over at my first battery change and disallowed me, on their own "authority," from flying anymore. The organizers only wanted their drone flying.🤷🏻‍♂️

The only time I really need to look at them is when I need LAANC clearance in controlled airspace but I'm also going to continue to use "missions."

Shitler's FAA and his head guy Bryan Bedford hard at work so we can't get LAANC authorizations to fly.

Doesn't help that DHS is cagey about its field office locations. Our local ICE lockup doesn't show up as restricted on LAANC apps, nor FAA UAS map, nor NOTAM map. Barely even labeled on Google maps.

I have no clue how to incorporate this NOTAM into my preflight prep, other than "just don't fly."

I think I'm gonna have to get some waterfall footage soon

Just for kicks, neither the DJI Fly app or third party app Autopylot say anything about local permitting, so even a responsible flier would be relying on faulty information

Get a LAANC you'll be fine
September 15, 2024 at 5:52 PM
Aaand my house is inside of the range of an airport so I will have to file a LAANC authorization any time I want to send it up. Meh, worth it.

The going theory is anybody with a cell phone should be able to see a drone RID through an app like OpenDroneID or Dronescanner and I think the LAANC providers do it now, but there are limitations and you basically have to be right under them to pick it up

There is also amazing systems built into commercially available drones that integrates with LAANC that helps pilots and restricts flight automatically from going into restricted airspace.

I know LAANC authorization for civilians is via an app now... wonder if DHS, etc. has to clear or file w/ local airport/FAA in any way. granted FOI request is probably needed to get specific records, etc.

Nice video! I tried flying over the Public Garden at 2:30, with LAANC approval and everything in order, but it was geo locked and I couldn't take off at all. First time that's ever happened to me. Wonder if that's related.
