They would have a great deal of lattitude to tack right if they were handing down rulings exhibiting some kind of coherent conservative judicial philosophy. But a series of unexplained ipse dixit orders that amount to “Trump wins because we said so” isn’t going to hold up forever.

But if you assume as a matter of doctrine it must have a single, unified, consistent meaning, this gives you enormous lattitude to assemble whatever meaning you like by stitching together passages congenial to your goals, while ignoring or negotiaring away inconvenient ones.

Obviously we don’t need AI to have confirmation bias. But without it, there’s greater lattitude for correction, because most people don’t have the native capacity to construct a compelling-sounding rebuttal when an expert explains why we’re wrong.
