Mein Sohn war in der 3. Klasse, als er sich mit Covid infizierte. 8 Wochen hat die Genesung vom inflammatorischen Syndrom gedauert. Schulisch war es anschließend eine Katastrophe. Von 1ser zum 4er Schüler, ich musste ihm Zahlen komplett neu beibringen. Kinderarzt meinte nur: psychosomatisch. #LCKids

In fact, a study by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome campus - Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS and the Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù IRCCS, has highlighted the molecular signature of Long Covid in plasma in paediatric age and used an AI tool capable of making the diagnosis based on the results of the blood sample, with 93% accuracy. The study was published in the journal ‘Pediatric Research’, by Nature Group, and was led by Dr. Danilo Buonsenso, researcher in general and specialist paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic University and paediatrician at the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Operative Unit of the Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli IRCCS, together with Dr. Nicola Cotugno, at the Complex Operative Unit of Clinical Immunology and Vaccinology of the Bambino Gesù IRCCS Paediatric Hospital.

One issue is whether all the participants are truly recovered. People can remit and relapse. Also in ME/CFS, some people who consider themselves recovered, still have some impairment e.g. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22753044/

The study, led by the NIH-funded RECOVER Initiative, is the first to examine the potential benefits of COVID vaccination in adolescents beyond lowering the severity of initial COVID symptoms. “These findings provide evidence that COVID vaccination has an important secondary effect in helping to mitigate the risk of long COVID in adolescents,” says Melissa Stockwell, a pediatrician at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and clinical senior author of the study.

Over recent years I have been involved in protecting over 200 innocent families from the child abuse machinery Most of the families had children with ME or long Covid Their paediatricians had failed to protect them by making a firm enough diagnosis and they had then been accused of FII Apart from the distress to the families this has involved an enormous waste of resources especially on the part of social services I have often felt like exclaiming at a case conference, “ don’t you have any real abuse in this area?” It seems that some social service departments are allowing these cases to work as a diversion from the challenge of confronting real abuse These cases seem to be increasingly common ever since our college endorsed (unwisely in my opinion) the wider definition of FII which includes MUS and PP
